Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Commission, Juozas Bernatonis, says the move to include business representatives will enhance cooperation between the public and private sectors and provide better conditions for businesspeople to submit proposals regarding strategic anti-corruption measures.
Previously only officials of the Government, ministries, the Prosecutor General‘s Office, the Special Investigation Service (STT), the State Security Department (VSD) etc. could apply for membership in the Commission.
The composition of the Inter-agency Commission for Coordination of Fight against Corruption is approved by the prime minister.
The main objectives of the Commission are: to coordinate the preparation and implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Programme, to monitor the implementation of the Programme’s measures, to deliberate on anti-corruption issues, to improve the activities of state and municipal institutions in the area of prevention and detection of corruption.
