“Sometimes I start thinking perhaps its intentional politicizing? Especially now when the government is set to return its powers. I see it sometimes as not very solid,” the prime minister told the Žinių Radijas news radio on Thursday morning, speaking about reproaches to the agriculture minister and other members of the government.

According to Butkevičius, probes have been carried out and commissions have been set up at the Ministry of Agriculture, which has come under major criticism, in order to dispel doubts over transparency of the ministry’s activities and the employment of people but no violations have been found.

The prime minister also expressed his surprise over the lack of presidential criticism against the previous government of Andrius Kubilius where two vice-ministers had problems with the law enforcement.

“It surprises me a lot that this government or coalition was called criminal. It was the previous coalition that should have been called criminal as it’s two vice-ministers had convictions and we had other bad information. We cannot have double standards,” Butkevičius said.
