Indian Curry Competition in Vilnius

On June 14th, the 6th Curry Cook-Off Indian Curry cooking contest and a true feast for spice & curry lovers took place. At the event organised by the British Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania, representatives of 6 International and Lithuanian companies presented their curry dishes.

Curry Cook-Off is one of the annual business community events organised by the British Chamber of Commerce, which encourages people to become more familiar with Indian food culture by involving non-professional teams in the process of cooking, encouraging innovation in culinary.

In the BALTIC MASTER Culinary Studio, 6 teams competed for two curry dishes: one with meat, and the other a freely chosen vegetarian. With very careful selection of spices and recipes, the teams experimented and risked with a huge variety of Indian food.

The judges of this year – Beata Nicholson, Rajinder Chaudhary, Gaspar Fernandes and Evaldas Žaliukas – evaluated the teams tasting all the dishes. Unlike other sophisticated and powerful food cooking, Curry Cook-Off’s evening asked simpler questions about salinity, smell, and curry texture. Some interesting ingredients and cooking methods were discussed, from aromatic spices to ‚hottness‘. Also, the participant were not just observers. All the attendants were encouraged to vote for their favorite. This year, the ‘Public Choice’ award was won by the Strategic Staffing Solutions International.

And the winner is…

After more than an hour of tasting, questioning and reflection, where guests could enjoy the culinary delights offered by the Sue Indian Raja restaurant, the judges have voted. Last year’s first-place winners, the Cricket Club of Lithuania, have been nominated for the third prize this year, Barclays Group Operations Lithuania got the second place, and this year’s winners – the Tinggly Experiences team, who were participating for the fifth time in a row!
