D. Grybauskaitė after meeting P. Poroshenko: Western attention to Ukraine is waning

During these meetings, discussions revolved around the security situation in the Baltic and Black Sea regions, EU Eastern Partnership prospects, Ukrainian and Armenian cooperation with the EU and the two countries’ integration pursuits, a press release from the Presidential Palace states.

D. Grybauskaitė emphasised that the international community’s attention to Ukraine is waning, but that Lithuania will always remain a consistent and firm supporter of the country, the strongest voice in support of it and its people’s pursuit of a European future.

During talks with the Armenian prime minister, the president emphasised that Lithuania supports the Armenian people’s aim to strengthen democracy. The head of state also wished for reforms needed for Armenia’s welfare to be successfully implemented and to strengthen links to the EU. According to D. Grybauskaitė, the comprehensive EU-Armenian cooperation agreement has much potential.

The president also discussed questions revolving around NATO and the EU with the heads and members of other countries’ cabinets. These included Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, German Minister of Defence Ursula von der Leyen, Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland, Crown Prince of Norway Haakon and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

At Davos, meetings were also organised between D. Grybauskaitė and her delegation with world company leaders, during which investment, business development in Lithuania in the areas of artificial intelligence, cyber security technologies and service centres were discussed.
