Discover the modern face of Vilnius

Open Gallery

“This autumn is special for the Vilnius art scene: the MO Modern Art Museum and the Lithuanian Art Centre Tartle have opened their doors to the public. Contemporary Lithuanian artists are famous worldwide, but we also want the world to learn more about art treasures here in Vilnius. That’s why the Guide to Modern Vilnius treats the city’s entire range of art spaces. We hope it will encourage locals and visitors to discover traditional museums as well as more contemporary creative spaces that reflect Vilnius’ status as a well-rounded city full of pleasant surprises,” says Go Vilnius Director Inga Romanovskienė.

The Guide to Modern Vilnius takes you through the streets of the city while opening a door into its world of art. From Litvak heritage at the Samuel Bak Museum to the Open Gallery of street art at LOFTAS, to the avant-garde Jonas Mekas Visual Arts Centre, the National Gallery of Art, and the Editorial project space. Visitors can enjoy new discoveries no matter the weather or time of day – the route walks you through outdoor and indoor art spaces. Some of the route’s stops have permanent exhibits while others change on a regular basis, so there’s always something new to see.

Modern cultural life thrives in Vilnius all year round and even spreads outside the walls of the art galleries. This new guide provides an overview of the most important events throughout the year, most of which have become welcome traditions, attracting loyal visitors and new audience alike.

The new guide provides a great opportunity to create a calendar of cultural events. Art in Vilnius is ready for you any day of the year. The Guide to Modern Vilnius is available in English, German, Italian, Russian, Polish, and Lithuanian here, or can be picked up at one of the Vilnius Tourist Information Centres.
