“Lithuania got 1.531 billion euros for rural development in 2014-2020 and would get 1.214 billion euros in 2021-2027 on the current prices, which is down 317 million euros, or 20.7 percent,” Andriukaitis told BNS Lithuania during a phone conversation.
He could not say how much funds would be allocated for direct payments to farmers.
The EC had to announce on Tuesday EU budget 2021-2027 proposals on the cohesion policy aimed at supporting Europe’s poorer regions, but, according to Andriukaitis, the Commission in fact approved the whole long-term budget proposal.
Lithuania received around 150 million euros less in rural development support in the 2014–2020 budget.
