“There has to be more social advertising that would encourage lower alcohol consumption. I can also say that the state health promotion foundation has already started operating. Additional funds are designated for educational programs to combat alcohol abuse,” he said.
On Monday the government approved the Law on Alcohol Control amendments under which alcohol will be sold only until 10 pm. Retail outlets selling alcohol will have to wait until 10am to start selling alcohol instead of 8am currently. Under the new rules municipalities will be allowed to decide on where alcohol can be advertised, and alcohol advertising will be permitted only with the prior authorization.
