Electricity prices drop in Lithuanian trade zone

The average price of electricity in Nord Pool Exchange Lithuanian trade zone stood at €31.8 per megawatt hour on July 11-17, a tenth lower than the previous week and a fifth lower than at the same time last year, Litgrid informs.

Lithuania imported 81% of electricity it consumed. More than half of the electricity was imported from Sweden, 17% from Latvia, Estonia and Finland, and the rest from third countries.

On July 11, a NordBalt connection was launched in Lithuania and Sweden which increased the supply of cheaper electricity from the Scandinavian countries.

On July 11-17, imports into Lithuania through the Latvia-Lithuania interconnection was on average on 19% of the total load, Swedish-Lithuanian 91%, while the Belarusian-Lithuanian interconnection was used at 8% of the capacity.

Electricity flow to Poland through LitPol Link Lithuania averaged 36% of the capacity, while in the direction of Lithuania, 20%.
