Emigration drops in Lithuania

36,600 people emigrated from Lithuania last year, and 24,300 immigrated. Compared to 2013, the number of emigrants dropped by 2,200 (5.7 percent) and the number of immigrants increased by 2,300 (3.7 percent).

Around four fifths of the immigrants were Lithuanian citizens who returned home.

Around half of all emigrants (45.8 percent) left for the United Kingdom, followed by Ireland (8.4 percent), Germany (7.9 percent) and Norway (7.2 percent).
