EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom is in Lithuanian today to meet with senior Lithuanian political leaders and discuss the proposed TTIP agreement between the European Union and the Unites States.
Talks have stalled on the proposed agreement and it has become an election issue in America. However, during a visit to Europe last week, President Barack Obama said he was confident that an agreement will succeed this year.
Malmstrom is scheduled to meet with Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė, Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius, Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius and Speaker of the Lithuanian Parliament Loreta Graužinienė.
Malmstrom and Linkevicius will also discuss trade relations with Russia during their meeting.
