Extreme weather events hit Lithuanians in pocket

Lithuanians were hit with big bills from extreme weather events last summer, with thunder storms causing the most damage.

Insurance company ERGO said its customers in Lithuania faced bills of over €100,000 last year from extreme weather events..

Thunder storms caused the most trouble costing Ergo‘s Lithuanian customers €60,000 last summer and €135,000 the summer before (2014), according to ERGO Insurance Lithuania claims administration department director Audrius Pilčicas.

Lightning also causes a lot of damage. In 2015, the total damage from lightning among Ergo customers was €22,000 but that as not close to the summer in 2014 when there were far more lightning strikes created total costs of €138,000.
