“OECD membership is currently the primary goal of Lithuania. I am glad that our Australian colleagues gave a positive review of the Lithuanian efforts and the ongoing programs to get an invitation to open the OECD accession process,” the minister said in a press release issued after meeting with his Australian counterpart, Julie Bishop.
Lithuania expects to start OECD membership talks in June.
During the meeting, Linkevičius also “thanked for constructive cooperation at the United Nations Security Council in 2014,” reads the press release.
Over the weekend, the Linkevičius met with Lithuanian communities in Melbourne and Sydney, as well as members of the Australian-Lithuanian Business Council.
