According to official information available to Lithuanian diplomats, no Lithuanian citizens have been killed or injured, Kęstutis Vaškelevičius, spokesman for the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told BNS.

The ministry is monitoring the situation and is keeping in contact with the staff of the Lithuanian Embassy in India. It is also trying to contact the honorary consul in Nepal, the spokesman said.

Nepal is a major tourist destination and it is likely that there might be travelers from Lithuania in the country, he said.

The Foreign Ministry asks all Lithuanian citizens who are currently in Nepal or their families to register by email at pilieciai@urm.lt.
