Gineikaitė admitted to Kaunas District Court that she hit another car last December, but said she was not drunk at the time.

The breath test she took on the scene of the accident showed 1.66 per thousand blood alcohol content, a result Gineikaitė rejected and demanded a blood test.

She told the court the breath test result could have been skewed due to medication she was taking or mouthwash.

Gineikaitė was administered two blood tests, one of which showed she was sober and the other showed she had more than one per thousand blood alcohol content.

After the incident, which attracted much media attention, Gineikaitė took an unpaid leave of absence from her post at the National Land Service, an agency under the control of the Ministry of Agriculture. However, she was dismissed last week.

The hearing of Gineikaitės case has been adjourned until February 22.
