Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė was elected in the second round of the election, Pečiulis told the LRT radio.
Other participants of the competition included Jūratė Černiauskienė, director of Kultino public establishment, political reviewer and historian Bernardas Gailius, television producer Kristupas Krivickas, former BNS CEO Artūras Račas and lawyer Liudvikas Ragauskis, as well as LRT employee Justas Senapėdis, LRT CEO for two terms Audrius Siaurusevičius, another LRT CEO Aldaras Stonys, the Culture Ministry’s chancellor Laimonas Ubavičius and Independence Act signatory Zigmas Vaišvila.
Arūnas Valinskas, TV host and former parliamentary speaker, withdrew his application on Tuesday.
The second vote at the LRT council took place after none of the applicants managed to secure support of more than half of all members of the council.
In the second round, the panel was choosing among three candidates, with Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė supported by eight of the council’s 12 members.
