Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed a decree under which Kaliningrad’s port limits should be expanded to accommodate a new Gazprom LNG terminal, writes Andrzej Kublik at gazeta.pl.
Gazprom plans to install a terminal with a floating LNG storage – as in Klaipėda port in Lithuania.
The Gazprom terminal will be able to load about 2.3 million tons of LNG per year. This represents more than 5 billion cubic meters of gas.
In comparison, Europe’s largest LNG import terminal‘s South Hook in the United Kingdom has a capacity of 18 billion cubic meters per year, and the Klaipėda LNG terminal has a capacity of up to 3 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
