Germany calls for keeping Iran nuclear deal alive – formin in Lithuania

The German minister’s comments followed US President Donald Trump‘s decision several days ago to suspend his country’s participation in the deal reached in 2015.

“We believe that it is important to keep that agreement alive because it is the only agreement that provides formal precondition for Iran not to engage in a nuclear weapons program,” the minister told a joint press conference held with his Baltic counterparts in Lithuania’s western resort of Palanga.

“If we were to scrap this agreement it would not make the region any safer or more peaceful,” he said.
