Government, doctors agree on pay rise until 2020

According to the country’s statistics office, the average gross monthly wage in Lithuania’s economy, excluding sole proprietorships, stood at 850.8 euros in the third quarter.

“All this was approved by the government and is written down as a commitment to seek such-and-such a salary,” Veryga said after signing an agreement with health professionals’ trade unions.

“How well we manage to achieve this will depend on the country’s economic situation,” he added.

The deal was not signed by the newly-established Lithuanian Medical Movement, which does not have the status of a trade union and participated in the talks as an observer.
