“We propose to impose new sanctions to target Russian tycoons and oligarchs, who shelter and launder illicit funds in Member States helping (President Vladimir) Putin to enable his antidemocratic activities,” they say in a letter initiated by Lithuanian MEP Petras Auštrevičius.
The letter is addressed to the heads of states and governments of the 28 EU member states, European Council President Donald Tusk and other top officials.
Forty-five lawmakers from the main groups have signed the letter so far, Auštrevičius’ office told BNS.
