“The whole world, except for Russia and the Assad regime (…), view this as a war crime and a crime against humanity, therefore, a response is necessary. The response was directly demonstrated by the United States,” the president told Vilnius journalists on Friday.

Asked whether the US attack could provoke a broader conflict, Grybauskaitė replied: “I think it is quite the opposite. Both Assad and Russia must know the red lines, what is allowed and what is not.”

By decision of US President Donald Trump, the United States launched 59 Tomahawk missiles on the Syrian air base in early hours of Friday local time time. Washington believes the base was the origin of the chemical attack that killed dozens of people, including children.
