Joint EU army supported by more than two-thirds of Lithuanians

DELFI / Mindaugas Ažušilis

The survey, ordered by the European Commission, shows that 68 percent of Lithuanians would support the creation of such a force. 62 and 56 percent of people in its neighbouring Baltic states of Estonia and Latvia respectively would support the creation of such a force. The average percentage of citizens supporting such a measure throughout the EU, however, is just 53 percent.

In addition, a resounding 87 percent of Lithuanians support the formation of a joint EU defence and security policy, though at 72 percent approval throughout the EU, it seems like many other countries would also support such a move. At 81 percent approval, Lithuanians also highly support the formation of a joint EU energy policy.
