Among the participants of the public presentation of the International Yoga Day on May 21 was Jurgis Didžiulis who turns to be an avid proponent of yoga. In his opinion, yoga has many benefits. He claimed, ‘To me, yoga is an art of self-improvement: it is exercise for the body, the soul, and the mind that leads to becoming a better person.’
‘Most of us are accustomed to looking outside of ourselves for fulfilment. We are living in a world that conditions us to believe that outer attainments can give us what we want. But it is a myth as there are desires we cannot get no matter what be the means of materialism and what is wellbeing of body and soul and thus complete calmness. In Bible it is said, “Be still and know that I am God”. In these words lies the key to the science of yoga the ancient spiritual science spanning over 7000 years ago. Known as yoga offers a direct means of a stilling the natural turbulence of thoughts and restlessness of the body that prevent us from knowing what we really are. Yoga is thus a simple process of reversing the ordinary outward flow of energy and consciousness so that mind becomes a dynamic centre of direct perception no longer dependent upon the fallible sense but capable of actually experiencing truth,’ explained Rajinder Kumar Chaudhary – Honorary Consul of India to Lithuania.
During the 2016 celebration of the International Yoga Day, the Ambassador of India to Warsaw awarded the title of the Yoga Ambassador of Lithuania to Gintautas Šiupšinskas. Šiupšinskas was awarded this honorable title for his professional competences, trustworthiness, his devotion to the ancient practice of body and soul management, as well as the work that he had been doing promoting yoga in Lithuania for many years.
‘The main goal of Mai Ram Yoga is to develop and nurture a consciousness that exceeds the limits that our minds and bodies impose on it. One can reach this goal by constantly trying to get to know oneself and working on one’s will and mindfulness until it rises above the mental level. Only constant practice, devotion, and training of the mind and the body leads to full knowledge of the true human nature. This way to self-discovery is the main purpose of the integrated Mai Ram Yoga teaching,’ explained the yoga teacher Gintautas Šiupšinskas.
