Labour Code amendment suggests more flexible employment contracts for high-earners

The Seimas Social Affairs and Labour Committee, which considered amendments to the Labour Code on Wednesday, endorsed a proposal to allow employees making twice the average wage more flexibility in negotiating their employment contracts.

The committee said high-earners have more leverage over their employers and therefore could get better terms.

If adopted, the rules will allow employers and high-earning employees to agree on different terms than those specified in the Labour Code regarding working hours, safety and health requirement, hiring and contract termination.

The rules will apply to employees making more than €1,470 a month.
