The money will be transferred to the United Nations‘ migration agency providing assistance to displaced persons from the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine.
“With this action, we continue contributing to the implementation of the plan for humanitarian aid to Ukraine, announced by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. The plan aims at allocating 187 million US dollar in 2018,” the ministry said.
UN figures show that 4.4 million have been affected by the conflict in eastern Ukraine since its start in 2014, and 3.4 million people need humanitarian aid.
There are now almost 1.5 million displaced people in Ukraine, dependent on humanitarian aid.
The conflict between Ukraine’s government forces and Russia-backed separatists has cost over 10,000 lives already.
