“Today, there are Europe-wide discussions on how to reduce VAT fraud. I do believe that the proposed measures will contribute to a common result, especially in the area of administrative cooperation,” Šapoka told reporters before the start of an Economic and Financial Affairs Council (Ecofin) meeting in Brussels.
“We support the proposals. Obviously, Lithuania’s experience proves that it is possible to reduce the shadow (economy),” the minister said.
“The fight against the shadow (economy) is important not only in Lithuania, but also throughout the European Union. From now on, we’ll be fighting together,” he added.
Ecofin members are invited to agree on a common approach to strengthen administrative cooperation in the field of VAT.
