During the visit, Skvernelis met with Israel’s Vice-PM and Interior Minister Silwan Shalom and Public Security Minister Gilad Erden.

“Cyber security is a rather new field for Lithuania, posing a challenge to policy-policy makers and specialists. It is growing in relevance, therefore, the sector is getting increasingly in focus. It is very important for us to familiarize ourselves with the capacities and experience of our colleagues,” the Lithuanian minister said in a press release.

The conversation with the Israeli public security minister addressed the Lithuanian-Israeli intergovernmental agreement on efforts against crimes. Skvernelis also invited the minister to come to Lithuania, expressing hope that the agreement could be signed in Vilnius.

Skvernelis also met with officials of the National Cyber Security Center and learned about the national cyber security strategy and protection of critical infrastructure. The meeting with the National Security Agency’s officials addressed possibilities of bilateral cooperation in ensuring safety of persons protected by the state and embassies.

The Lithuanian minister also visited the Holocaust Museum and laid a wreath in tribute to Holocaust victims.
