Lithuania ‘cannot afford to waste four more years’

“One thing is clear to me – Lithuania cannot afford four more years of lethargy. Today we earn the least among the Baltic countries, today our pensions are the lowest in the Baltic region. If Lithuania would allow itself to lose four more years, around 8,000 people will die from alcoholism and suicide – as much as Russian bullets and bombs have killed in Ukraine. During the last three years, more people emigrated than there are citizens in a city like Marijampolė. And Lithuania is not at war,” said Landsbergis at the party‘s council meeting on Saturday in Vilnius.

“We have a clear plan on how to change the existing political situation in Lithuania and how to solve the chronic problems. First – is creating a fair and transparent Lithuania. We have to raise ourselves to the highest transparency requirements. Only in this way can we expect the public faith and trust.

“Secondly, we have a clear plan on how to revive the economy of Lithuania. How to ensure that more Lithuanians work and get decent wages. We know how to ensure pension growth, not just before the elections. This can be achieved without losing money and focusing state efforts where the change would be the most effective,” he said.
