“The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry strongly condemns the abduction and murder of Israeli teenagers: Naftali Fraenkel, Gilad Shaar and Eyal Yifrach. We extend our most sincere condolences to their families, friends and all Israelis, the ministry said in a statement. “We call on Israeli and Palestinian authorities to continue to cooperate and to conduct an independent investigation into this crime. We invite both parties to refrain from taking any action that may further escalate tension in the region.”
Israel has accused the Palestinian movement Hamas, recently included into the Palestinian government, for the killings.
The bodies of the three Israelis were found in a field in the south of the West Bank 17 days after their disappearance which sparked a large-scale search operation leading to the death of five and the arrest of over 400 Palestinians.
