Lithuania elected as member of UNICEF Executive Board

Other states elected to the 2019-2021 Executive Board are Australia, Bangladesh, Benin, Burundi, Djibouti, Cameroon, Canada, Luxembourg, Morocco, Mexico, Mongolia, Pakistan and France.

Lithuania has contributed 284,000 euros to support UNICEF’s life-saving work in 2014 to 2018, the ministry said in a press release.

“In addition, Lithuania has given significant attention to the international community’s efforts to fight child abuse, including in cyberspace, in recent years,” it said.

The Executive Board is UNICEF’s governing body made up of 36 member states elected to three-year terms by the Economic and Social Council. Lithuania and another 13 new member states were elected on Monday.
