OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria has informed Lithuanian Justice Minister Milda Vainiutė about this.

This opens the way for Lithuania to join the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions, a necessary step to become a member of the organization the ministry said in a press release.

“Lithuania must ensure that state-owned enterprises are prosecuted for corruption crimes without reservation. It also still needs to review the standards of proof of guilt in bribery cases. These issues will be addressed in the next stage of the assessment of Lithuania in June,” it said.

By joining the working group, Lithuania will commit itself to actively combat bribery in international business transactions.
