Lithuania kicks off rural tourism season

DELFI / Valdas Kopūstas

The Rural Tourism Association says that 300,000 tourists stayed at rural homesteads last year, accounting for a fifth of the total.

Nine out of 10 country tourists were Lithuanians, but there is a growing interest from foreign visitors, too.

Rural tourism service providers say that people are increasingly interested in exploring Lithuania’s rural traditions, culinary heritage and traditional crafts.

Most rural tourism spots are concentrated in East Aukštaitija regions, dotted with numerous lakes.
