Lithuania opens honorary consulate in Finland

The honorary consulate will be based in the science and technologies park Technopolis, which accommodates a large number of technological and services companies, research centres and laboratories.

Since Lithuania regained independence from the Soviet Union in 1990, Karvinen has been actively involved in joint Lithuanian-Finnish projects: he headed the regional Society of Lithuanian Friends in the city of Joensuu, worked on various bilateral cultural, business and academic exchange projects.

According to the press release, Kuopio is among the fastest-growing cities in Finland, known as the centre of education and culture of eastern Finland. The city has four universities focusing on development of the medical cluster – health care, pharmacy, food safety and environmental studies.
