The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has proposed establishing its OECD representation to take an active part in the organization’s activity and cooperate with it while implementing key national reforms.
The ministry proposed establishing the OECD representation as of Dec. 1.
Lithuania plans to spend 438,000 euros this year on the establishment of its representation to the Paris-based OECD, and to spend 610,000 euros next year and 645,000 euros in 2020 and 2021 each.
The Lithuanian government considers economy, finance, education, social security and employment, as well as fighting corruption to be key areas of cooperation with OECD.
The parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs has already backed the establishment of the representation, but the government’s official decision is still needed.
