“This is no longer a secret – the Romanian ambassador came to my office yesterday and told me that the Romanian government has given its consent to having me as an ambassador in their country,” Pocius said.

Pocius headed the Lithuanian Armed Forces from 2009 before handing over his duties to the newly-appointed successor Major General Jonas Vytautas Žukas on Thursday.

Lithuania has not had an ambassador to Romania since the recall of Vladimiras Jarmolenka who ended his diplomatic career last year. The small mission is now headed by adviser Jonas Mažeika who also acts as chargé d’affaires.
