“We have prepared a relevant draft law and expect the Seimas to adopt it by December,” said MP Paulauskas on Thursday, following a meeting convened by Seimas Speaker Loreta Graužinienė in order to discuss the future of the conscript army in the country.
According to the head of the Seimas Committee on National Security and Defence, the number of conscripts will remain unchanged, with around 3,000 drafted each year.
MP Paulauskas says that parliamentary groups also agreed to have further discussions on more general matters, as well as on the reserve formation and the number of professional troops the country should have. “We have a strategy for the future and agreed to have more debates on it,” the politician said.
