According to the press release, the ambassador presented the minister with a letter from Ukraine‘s Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, which speaks about the criminal investigations initiated by Russian law-enforcement institutions in connection to specific members of the Ukrainian government.

In the letter, Avakov said that Russian officials may turn to Lithuania’s law-enforcement institutions for prosecution of Ukrainian officials and asked to take an adequate and unbiased stance on the cases “in order to avoid ungrounded actions”.

In response to the request, Barakauskas forwarded the issue to the ministry’s International Cooperation Department.
