The teachers were trained to provide education based on a new program on health, sexuality education and family, which came into force last September.
“We have around 1,000 teachers who have been trained,” the vice minister said amid claims but some opposition politicians that teachers’ training fro sexuality education is nonsystematic in Lithuania.
The preparation of the sexuality education program sparked controversy in Lithuania, especially on how children should be taught about sexual intercourse and contraception.
Critics say sexuality issues important for young people are covered superficially by ignoring the social reality.
