The possibility was Thursday discussed by Lithuania’s Chief of Defence Lieutenant General Jonas Vytautas Žukas and German Land Forces Commander Lieutenant General Jorg Volmer.
German troops have earlier helped training Lithuanian army drivers and mechanics after the country bought German self-propelled howitzers PzH2000.
“I briefed the German general on the Lithuanian Army’s readiness for defense and development plans, thanked for their assistance in the teaching of drivers and mechanics of the purchased self-propelled howitzers PzH2000. I also expressed hope that the cooperation would be continued, as Lithuania’s Armed Forces ready to utilize the infantry fighting vehicles Boxer,” Žukas said on his Facebook wall.
The first dozen of Boxers should arrive in Lithuania in late 2017. Lithuania’s Armed Forces have purchased a total of 88 of the infantry fighting vehicles.
