The incident took place at the German army base in Hohenfels on Jan. 21. Based on a pre-trial investigation by the Lithuanian military police, Lithuanian troops were taking part in the international Allied Spirit VIII exercise in Germany.

Lithuanian troops were consuming alcohol on the night of the incident, despite it being forbidden during training. The two troops involved were under heavy influence of alcohol when they decided to do some wrestling. The men performed several wrestling and fighting moves and then the defendant pulled the victim up and then they fell together to the ground. Other volunteers in the room tried to resuscitate the victim who regained consciousness only after more than ten minutes and was taken to a German hospital.

The man was flown to Lithuania after a month and is still in a grave state, undergoing hospital treatment in Lithuania.

The defendant faces arrest or imprisonment up to three years.
