Lithuanian defmin to attend Independence Day events in Kiev

Among other events, Karoblis will watch a festive military parade that will include a group of Lithuanian troops.

“In an effort to contribute to the strengthening of regional security and stability and to promote closer ties with the Euro-Atlantic community, Lithuania is developing bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Ukraine,” the Lithuanian Defense Ministry said in a press release.

“Ukraine’s security and stability and its ability to respond to emerging threats have a significant impact on the security situation in the entire region,” it said.

Lithuania supports Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic and European integration aspirations and the country’s security and defense reforms and the enhancing of its defense capabilities.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak underlined on Wednesday that Lithuania has been the only country so far to help Ukraine in the form of lethal weapons. He expressed hope that other countries will do so as well.
