Lithuanian foreign minister starts US visit

Their meeting agenda includes such issues as the implementation of the decisions on collective defense, adopted during the NATO summit in Wales, the situation in Ukraine, Lithuanian-US bilateral economic cooperation, energy and information security as well as prospects of the Lithuanian membership in the Economic Cooperation and Development, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

During the visit, Linkevicius will also meet with Michael Carpenter, special advisor for Europe and Eurasia, to US Vice President Joe Biden as well as Karen Donfried, president of the US German Marshall Fund (GMF) and will attend a round-table discussion on security, organized by the fund.

Linkevičius is also scheduled to meet with representatives of the local Lithuanian community and take part in a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Restoration of Lithuania’s Independence in the Baltimore Lithuanian Hall.
