Lithuanian government appeals ECHR ruling on CIA prison

The government last Friday, which was the deadline day, filed its request with the Strasburg-based court for the case to be referred to the Grand Chamber, officials at the Justice Ministry confirmed to BNS on Monday.

The ECHR ruled on May 31 that Lithuania hosted a secret CIA prison for terror suspects between 2005 and 2006, ordering the country to pay 130,000 euros in damages to Abu Zubaydah over his alleged unlawful imprisonment in Lithuania.
