Some 438,000 euros have been earmarked for the representation, which is to open in Paris on December 1, this year, with another 610,000 euros to be allocated next year and 645,000 euros in 2020 and 2021 each.
It is planned to establish three diplomatic posts and two administrative, technical or service staff positions, as well as to appoint four special attaches, for finance, economics, education and science, and social protection and labor.
The Foreign Ministry, which drafted the government resolution, says the office’s key tasks will include facilitating the participation of Lithuanian institutions in OECD activities and ensuring the representation of Lithuanian interests in the activities of OECD committees and working groups.
According to the ministry, there are about 250 committees and working groups in the OECD, and more than 700 events take place annually.
