Lithuania’s government will decide what Lithuania’s military should look like in 6 years under new plans for defence spending.
Military planning guidelines indicate that 4,000 mandatory basic service soldiers will complete their mandatory conscription every year.
There are also plans to add a logistics battalion to the current structure of the Lithuanian military. This battalion would be the size of a NATO country’s military brigade and would ensure the ability to maintain fighting capabilities.
In 2021, the marginal number of national defence troops will reach up to 30,000.
