The Cabinet will Wednesday decide on the address to the EU General Court.
Jurgita Stakėnienė, director of the Agriculture Ministry’s Rural Development Department, said Lithuania disagreed with the decision taken by the EC last November to apply a sanction of 11.3 million euros, therefore, the government is advised to take the issue to court.
“In the Rural Development Program and direct payments, the European Commission and the European Court of Auditors audits the programs and establishes certain shortcomings, for which they later apply sanctions or, in other words, corrections,” Stakėnienė told BNS.
In her words, one of the reproaches from the EC was insufficient checks for small- and medium-sized businesses, as the information system of legal entities (JADIS) was not in effect at the time.
