Lithuanian president off to Iceland for women leaders’ conference

The two presidents will discuss the development of economic, business, science and culture relations between Lithuania and Iceland, and cooperation in NATO and in the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) format, the Lithuanian president’s press office said.

Grybauskaitė will also give a keynote speech at a global women political leaders’ conference titled “We Can Do It!. The gathering in Reykjavik brings together 300 female parliamentarians from almost 100 countries.

The president will invite global women political leaders to Vilnius, which will host a high-ranking meeting next year as Lithuania will mark not only the centennial of the restoration of the state, but also 100 years since women were granted the right to vote.

The conference in Reykjavik is organized by the Council of Women World Leaders (CWWL), which is chaired by Grybauskaitė, jointly with the Women Political Leaders Global Forum (WPL).
