Lithuanian president to host OSCE-UN conference on women in international politics

The president who is also chair of the Council of Women World Leaders will welcome the participants of the conference and hold a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier.

Taking part in the conference held under the patronage of the Lithuanian president will be Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), Michael Georg Link, as well as over 70 experts from the United Nations and OSCE member states.

According to the president, Lithuania’s efforts in the United Nations Security Council and other international organisations contribute in a significant way to strengthening the promotion of human rights around the world. The fact that discussions on how to better protect women from violence in armed conflict and ensure their participation in maintaining international peace and security take place in Vilnius is an important recognition of Lithuania’s efforts.
