Lithuanian president to sign OECD accession agreement

Members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development

OECD membership finalizes Lithuania’s bid to consolidate its position in the most influential international organizations, the presidential office states. Lithuania’s accession to the OECD club will not only raise the country’s prestige but also bring tangible benefit as Lithuania will receive highest-level expert support, secure investors’ better assessment, receive cheaper loans and easier access to trade markets worldwide.

According to the statement, Lithuania has done all of its homework over the last three years and reformed states enterprises, depoliticized their management and stepped up fight against corruption.

Grybauskaitė will sign the accession agreement during the OECD Ministerial Council in Paris.
