Lithuanians only throw 5% of all household waste into sorting containers, the head of the waste management company Ecoservice claims.
“15-20% of the population participates in waste sorting and in Lithuania around 30,000 tons of waste are sorted out separately annually. It is an area of 60 hectares covered with 1 metre of waste,” said Arūnas Makauskas, the head of the waste management company.
