A survey shows that Lithuanians tend to spend more on homes than people in the other two Baltic countries.
Forty-seven percent of Lithuanians prefer living in flats, 34% would choose to live in a cottage or a semi-detached house. Interestingly, 55% of Latvians would choose a house or a cottage and 36% an apartment while 52% of Estonians would choose an apartment and 37% a house, a TNS survey commissioned by the real estate development and construction corporation YIT shows.
YIT’s research shows that 31% of respondents in Lithuania tend to spend less than €100,000 on housing, slightly fewer (29%) tend to spend between €100,000 and €150,000.
Meanwhile 73% of Latvians tend to spend less than €100,000 on housing. 61% of Estonians would spend less than €100,000 on a home and 22% would spend €100,000-150,000.
Lithuanians usually choose homes by price, with location as the second most important criterion. For Latvians, the two criteria are equal, while in Estonia location is more important than price.
